BUSA Championships Results! (22/04/2008)

This weekend saw 30 Loughborough gymnasts and spectators travel the 350 mile round trip to Newcastle for the 2008 BUSA Championships.  With the event being run over 2 days it allowed us to relax slightly more than in previous years and made the weekend more enjoyable for all involved. Saturday saw the men take to the floor with women competing on Sunday.  In total, Loughborough took away a massive 18 medals, including 5 gold:

Men's Trophy Team = Sean Byrne, Hasan Ahmad, Tony Sidebotham, Neil Furber
   Men's Floor = Phil Drew
   Men's Pommels = Hasan Ahmad
Women's Championship Team = Kathryn Thomson, Amy Tarrant, Samantha Davies, Melissa Carr
   Women's Vault = Katie Steele

On behalf of the gymnasts and the committee, I would like to thank all those who made this weekend possible, with special thanks going to Dave and Foss who drove competitors; all the spectators who provided so much encouragement; and the man most people forget to thank, Gheorghe, without whom we would never have achieved these results!!

Full women's results can be found HERE, and all results are up on the Results Page!

Congratulations to Rob on a great display at Universiade in Bangkok! (21/08/2007)

Rob helped the GB men's team to a well deserved 10th place as a team, behind exceptional teams from nations with great gymnastics heritage. This performance lead to him being selected as one of only two GB gymnasts to qualify to an event final, where he finished 8th.

We are all exceptionally proud of Rob for representing GB and Loughborough on this international stage!

Congratulations must also go to the Leeds Met Lads, Steve Jehu, Adam Cox and Thomas Rawlinson for great performances as well as Carolyn Fyfe, GB's only female representative who placed 19th all around behind many international competitors.

LSGC Wins Most Improved Club at the 2007 AU Ball! (18/05/2007)

It's official, thanks to all the hard work of the committee, members, coaches and competitors, Loughborough Students Gymnastics Club has been named the most improved club on campus! This accolade was received with great excitement by all club members and it is greatly appreciated that the Athletics Union recognises the work that our club has done in the last 12 months. We have achieved increased membership, travelled to more competitions than ever before and of course achieved better results than ever before to boot! After such a great year, we must carry forward this momentum and make the 07/08 season the best yet!
